WHO THEY ARE

The Australian Sports Commission is the Australian Government agency responsible for leading the development of sport from grassroots participation through to elite performance. It oversees national investment in sport, high-performance programs, and system-wide sport development across Australia.

MISSION / FOCUS

To lead and shape the Australian sport system so that participation, performance, and integrity are strengthened across all levels of sport. Its focus is on building a sustainable national sport ecosystem that develops athletes, supports community participation, and ensures Australia remains competitive on the global stage while maintaining strong governance and inclusion standards.

THEIR WORK WITH ICSN

The Australian Sports Commission operates at a national systems level, which makes it a strong comparator for ICSN’s own approach to building inclusive sport infrastructure. Its emphasis on participation equity, Indigenous sport development, and safeguarding in sport aligns with ICSN’s broader objective of strengthening inclusive participation pathways and improving system-wide access to sport for underrepresented groups. While there is no formal partnership, its policy-led model is often referenced in global sport inclusion conversations ICSN participates in.
